Eric's Basement Home Theater Project
I'm working on a home theater in my basement. So far I have purchased:
- 200 feet of 14 gauge speaker wire (on ebay)
- 7 binding post panels (two posts per panel) (from Radio Shack)
- 2 multi-binding post panels (14 posts, plus a spot with an RCA plug for subwoofer) (from Radio Shack)
- 1 RCA panel (subwoofer) (from Radio Shack)
- one 35' coaxial cable with RCA ends, for subwoofer (from Radio Shack)
- a 10' (diagonal) high-contrast (gain = 1.1) rollup screen, 16:9 (Da-Lite Model C) (from AudioWorks)
- BenQ PE7700 DLP Projector (TV Authority)
- Onkyo TX-SR602 Surround Sound Receiver, 7.1 channel, 1000 watt, 7 speakers plus subwoofer
- DVD player: Toshiba SD-5980
The speaker wiring is all behind sheetrock. The walls have dark grey outdoor carpet on them, for audio purposes, and neutral coloring, and darkening the room. The ceiling is painted grey. The carpet on the floor is red. The can-lights in the ceiling are on a dimmer, as are the rope lights along the sides of the room. The projector is mounted onto the ceiling, and the screen is in a recessed box in the ceiling. The center speaker is also in a recessed box in the ceiling, right in front of the screen.
